Biographie
Entre peinture et bas-relief, les œuvres récentes d’Anthony D. Green témoigne de la fascination de l’artiste pour les images, leur place centrale dans la société de consommation et leurs potentiel de transformation. Détournant les codes de la photographie publicitaire et de l’infographie, il impose une distance avec les sujets, ici issus de banques d’image commerciales. Réalisées en MDF, peinture en aérosol, peinture acrylique, papier imprimé et assemblées, elles jouent avec les volumes et les points de vue, et perturbent le regard par des jeux formels (décalage, répétition, etc.). L’oreille, en relief sur un des volumes, apparait alors comme une voie de sortie à l’emprise exercée par le régime visuel. Bas-reliefs naturels, elles sont les médiatrices entre l’extérieur non-visible et un intérieur invisible, signifiant l’accès à quelque chose au-delà du visible.
