Cette œuvre, fondée sur le récit de la création, fait à la fois référence aux désirs humains universels et aux notions du bien et du mal. Deller est intrigué par la tension entre les deux personnages qui balancent entre amour, envie et renoncement. Les deux personnages couverts de feuilles de figuier deviennent le cadre d’une balançoire. […] Tout le monde est invité à planer librement, avec insouciance, sous la présence aussi menaçante que séductrice du fruit défendu.

Cette sculpture ludique est une création inédite, exécutée spécialement pour Paradise Kortrijk 2021, et demeurera protégée dans le Jardin Messeyne, un bijou du romantisme du XIXe siècle.

This work, based on the creation story, refers both to universal human desires and to notions of good and evil. Deller is intrigued by the tension between the two characters as they sway between love, envy and renunciation. The two figures covered in fig leaves become the frame for a swing. […] Everyone is invited to glide freely, carefree, under the presence of the forbidden fruit, which is as threatening as it is seductive.
This playful sculpture is an original creation, specially made for Paradise Kortrijk 2021, and will remain protected in the Messeyne Garden, a jewel of 19th century romanticism.
