English Magic a été conçu et créé pour le pavillon britannique de la 55e Biennale de Venise (2013). On y retrouve les intérêts de l’artiste pour la société anglaise, sa culture et son environnement social et politique.

Cette nouvelle édition de Super Room est consacrée à des œuvres en lien avec les concepts d’environnement de connexion / proximité / convivialité / empathie et de communauté.

Super Dakota et se réfère à la Poétique des relations, un texte théorique du philosophe martiniquais Édouard Glissant qui a attiré l’attention sur les moyens d’échanges mondiaux qui n’homogénéisent pas la culture mais produisent des différences à partir desquelles de nouveaux systèmes peuvent émerger.

English Magic was conceived and created for the British Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale (2013). It reflects the artist’s interests in British society, its culture, and its social and political environment.

This new edition of Super Room is dedicated to present works that relate to the concepts and environments of connection / closeness / togetherness / empathy and community.

Super Dakota honors and refers to Poetics of Relations, a theoretical text by Martinique-born philosopher Edouard Glissant who called attention to means of global exchanges that do not homogenize culture but produce differences from which new systems can emerge.

Ulla von Brandenburg was invited by the Manufacture de Sèvres, along with Hélène Delprat and Annette Messager, to create decorations on vases with characteristic French shapes.

For her « grand feu firing », Ulla von Brandenburg tackled the themes of dance, theatre, carnival and the circus, using warm colours drawn from a palette of more than 1,000 shades.

L’artiste a été invitée par la Manufacture de Sèvres aux côtés de Hélène Delprat et Annette Messager pour créer des décors sur des vases aux formes caractéristiques du savoir-faire français.

Pour sa « cuisson de grand feu », Ulla von Brandenburg a abordé les thèmes de la danse, du théâtre, du carnaval et du cirque, dans des couleurs chaudes piochées dans une palette de plus de 1 000 nuances.

This exhibition, a co-production of Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains and the Pinault Collection, questions the way in which artists approach, explore and appropriate the essential question of the crossing, a metaphor for the evolution of our humanity. It shows the systems of representation that refer to the state of the world or the way in which artists help us to understand the issues at stake as we contemplate the future of humanity.

Cette exposition, une co-production Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains et Pinault Collection, interroge la façon dont les artistes abordent, explorent, s’approprient la question essentielle de la traversée, métaphore de l’évolution de notre humanité. Elle montre les systèmes de représentation qui se réfèrent à l’état du monde ou la façon dont les artistes nous aident à comprendre les problèmes en jeu à l’heure où nous envisageons l’avenir de l’humanité.
