On the altana of Palazzo Querini a Ca’ Balà, a typical Venetian rooftop terrace, Palazzo Bentivoglio inaugurates with Jeremy Deller the first episode of extra BENTIVOGLIO — the spin-off bringing outside the historic Bolognese building the activities born within it.
The Constant Buzz of a Drone is a site-specific intervention visible from the Ponte de Ca’ Balà, the Giudecca, and the church of the Redentore.
For years, Deller has worked with the language of advertising: slogans, archives, found texts, actions in public space. The banner — a historic tool of trade unions and political movements — becomes in his hands an explicit declaration.
A gesture of solidarity towards the victims of all contemporary conflicts, evoking that sound — the buzz of the drone — which for many is the last they will ever hear.
